Mark D. Perrin was appointed President and CEO of ConjuChem in October 2005. Mr. Perrin has held numerous management roles in the pharmaceutical industry. He began his career with Lederle Laboratories, Division of American Cyanamid, in 1979 where he held increasingly responsible positions, including Division Manager, Lederle Canada, Vice President and General Manager of Lederle US Consumer Health Products and Vice President and General Manager of Lederle US Pharmaceuticals. In 1992, he joined Burroughs Wellcome as Vice President of Marketing and Sales for the US. In 1995, Mr. Perrin joined COR Therapeutics, Inc. in South San Francisco, California as Executive Vice President of Commercial Operations. During Mr. Perrin's 6-year tenure at COR Therapeutics, he played the lead role in establishing the company's commercial infrastructure, which included all sales, marketing, and manufacturing functions. From 2002 to 2005, Mr. Perrin functioned as Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Orphan Medical, Inc. in Minnetonka, Minnesota. At Orphan Medical, he served as a member of the management team and led the company's commercial activities and its business development functions. Mr. Perrin earned his Bachelor of Science degree in economics at Fordham University, New York, New York, and his Master's in Business Administration at the Kellogg Graduate School of Business, Northwestern University, in Evanston, Illinois.
Mr. Ryer, prior to joining ConjuChem, served as CFO and VP Finance at Paladin Labs Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical firm. At Paladin, Mr. Ryer transitioned the company to the Toronto Stock Exchange and led the company's most significant financing initiative, raising in excess of $21 million. Mr. Ryer was formerly the managing partner of the Montreal office of BDO Dunwoody, an international firm of Chartered Accountants. During his eighteen years in public practice, Mr. Ryer specialized in mergers and acquisitions and taxation. Mr. Ryer holds a B.Comm degree from McGill University and a degree in Public Accountancy from McGill University Faculty of Graduate Studies. He holds a Chartered Accountant designation from the Institutes of Ontario and Quebec, is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation, and holds a designation as a Certified Fraud Examiner.
Dr. Ulich's professional achievements are substantial. He served as Vice President of Preclinical Development at Amgen for 10 years, additionally serving as Vice President of Protein Therapeutics during his final years. Throughout his tenure at Amgen, Dr. Ulich was also responsible for Clinical Pharmacokinetics and Protein Formulation, including the development of proteins and formulations specifically engineered to support sustained durations of action with less frequent dosing intervals. Dr. Ulich served in a pivotal leadership role for the regulatory filings of such highly successful drugs as Aranesp, Neulasta, Kepivance, Sensipar, and Denosumab. After leaving Amgen, Dr. Ulich became the Senior Vice President of Research and Development at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals during the time that Alnylam completed a successful IPO. Prior to his industry experience, Dr. Ulich was a Professor at the University of California as a Principal Investigator conducting NIH-sponsored basic research on the in vivo biology of recombinant proteins and also serving as Professor and Director of Anatomic Pathology at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. Most recently, Dr. Ulich was Professor of Pathology at Wayne State University where he served as Co-Director of the Pathophysiology Curriculum. He received his B.A. from Dartmouth College, completed his M.D. and combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency at UCLA, and then went on to a two year post-doctoral fellowship in Immunology at the Scripps Research Foundation in La Jolla, California.
